Public IP
What the sites you visit see is this exit address, not your device itself. Switch routes and the public IP changes with it; the same account showing different exits on different routes is normal. If you need to stay signed in to one account long term, sticking to a single route's exit is more reliable.
Country & Region
What you can find in app stores, which streaming library you get, and whether AI tools are open to you are all decided by the exit location. If the location does not match the region of the route you picked, it usually means traffic is not going through the route, or the route itself exits in another region.
ISP
A datacenter listing means this is a datacenter exit: plenty of bandwidth and stable latency, but a higher chance of being flagged by risk engines. A residential exit looks closer to an ordinary user's network, at the cost of more fluctuation in speed and stability. Pick by use case, not by the label alone.
Proxy detection
Matching proxy traits does not mean an account will be banned; it only means this exit is flagged in some services' risk databases. Services with strict region checks also look at the exit address, DNS source, and sign-in behavior together. If you hit a login problem, switch to a route with fewer flags and try again.

A new exit with unchanged DNS resolution is the most common setup problem on cross-border routes. The four steps below take under ten minutes.
A DNS leak means domain lookup requests do not follow your traffic through the route and instead go to your local network's default resolver. The tell: web traffic already exits abroad, yet the resolver list still shows your local ISP's DNS nodes. For everyday browsing the impact is small, but services with strict region checks look at the exit address and the DNS source together, and when the two disagree, region misjudgments are common.
The country and region in the results should match the region of the route you selected. If they do not, traffic is not going through the route — fix the connection first, then worry about DNS.
In your client settings, find an option such as "DNS over proxy" or "Remote DNS" and turn it on. Different clients use different names, but the goal is the same: keep lookup requests off your local network.
Open a tool site that supports DNS leak testing and see whether the listed resolvers' locations match your route's region. If the resolvers show the route's region, that is normal.
If the resolvers still show your local ISP, switch to a config with built-in remote DNS, or use a route with manually specified resolvers. Then go back to step one and confirm again.
